Who are Sanctuary?
Established in 1992 by Geraldine Ann Terrell, we work to provide help and hope for
those who find themselves displaced. Our motto,
Caveo Domus Dignitas stands for " A
Safe Home with Dignity", which it is our goal to offer. We are a series of  
transitional
homes
, providing everything needed for those individuals and families that are
determined to rise above their circumstances.
Whom we serve
We do not discriminate with regards to race, gender, creed or religion. We accept
children and adults, individuals and families. Parolees, with the exceptions of
those convicted of violent and /or sexual offences, are welcome as well. Our Food
Pantry is open to all, and we also provide rental and utilities assistance as we are
able. We are registered with Bexar County Community Supervision and
Corrections, for those who need to complete community service hours, and finally    
we are able to offer referrals for further help and assistance.

  This is our current site, which we have occupied for the last two years. As of
June 30th, 2008 we will have to move due to the building owner losing this
property to foreclosure. We learned of this action only after a real estate
agent representing the new owners arrived at our office and informed us that
we had less than 30 days to move. As we were in good standing with our
rental payments for that month, we engaged the services of Jason J. Jakob,
Attorney at Law to handle our case. Mr Jakob was able to perform a legal
miracle, and we were granted a two month stay of eviction, RENT FREE. Our
story has appeared twice on KENS 5 San Antonio news, with further details
to be included as our case unfolds.
 As of this writing we have not found a suitable site to relocate, due to lack of
funding and the need to find a comparable building. We currently house and
feed 8 individuals, 2 of whom are disabled veterans. It is our duty to continue
to provide clean, safe and comfortable housing for all our residents, as well as
expand our services.
 We ask that you consider making a donation to our cause. We have been in
business for over 16 years, and we intend to continue. But we need your

                                      ***   UPDATE  ***

As stated above, we were indeed forced to move. The constable came out on
Tuesday, July 1st, at 9:45 AM. The bank sent their team about 10 minutes
later. At exactly 10:00 AM, they began throwing everything out of the
buildings that we did not manage to have put on the rental moving van. The
pictures below were taken on the 2nd of July. It was truly a mess, but it was
not the end of Sanctuary: A Place for the Displaced. One day later, on the 3rd
of July, we moved into our new home at 4826 Roxton Avenue, just inside the
1604 East. For the time being, we will not be taking any new clients, but we
will open new locations no later than October 2008. I want to personally
thank those that helped us to find and finance our new home, specifically
Janice Reed of Bradfield Properties and Ed Harris, one of the Breakfast Club.
Of course, we could not have bounced back from such a crisis without the
Lord's help! Indeed, one could say that this was a blessing in disguise (DEEP
disguise!) for our new location is in a quiet neighborhood without the criminal
and drug element we were forced to endure on Dawson Street. The timing of
our present location coming on the market
just when we needed it was no
accident; I personally believe that there are no accidents nor coincidences.
